Monolec® Power Fluid (7500) Falmouth Lumber, Inc. – Cape Cod, Mass.Chevy 2500 HD & Ford Super Duty F250 Doubled the life of the transmissions • Kept transmissions looking brand new after 10 plowing seasons • Extended drain intervals to 75,000+ miles, 2.5 times more than the OEM recommendation Customer Profile Falmouth Lumber has been serving southeastern Cape Cod and New England for more than 50 years, earning the reputation for carrying the most reliable and trusted names in the building material industry. Falmouth Lumber’s mission is to provide superior service to its customers so that they may, in turn, satisfy their own customers. Falmouth Lumber has an extensive fleet of delivery trucks to get materials to any jobs when and where they are needed. The ever-expanding fleet includes boom trucks with reach up to 60 feet, Moffett forklifts, flatbeds and closed box trucks. The company also operates a fleet of pickup trucks used around town and in the lumber yard. Application Included in the Falmouth Lumber pickup truck fleet is a 1997 Chevy 2500 HD and a Ford Super Duty F250 DRW. The Chevy truck is powered by a 5.7L V8 engine coupled with a four-speed GM 4L80E automatic transmission. The Ford truck is powered by a 5.4L modular V8 engine with a four-speed Ford 4R100 automatic transmission. Challenge The Chevy 2500 HD is used as a general purpose vehicle as well as for snow removal during the winter months. The Ford F250 is one of the hardest working pieces of equipment in the yard, coupled with the fact that the 4R100 in a Ford F series truck is inherently one the hardest working transmissions. LE Solution Doug Martin, the Falmouth mechanic, is a  ongtime user of LE’s Monolec® Power Fluid (7500). He knew that using it would provide him the best solution for  xtending the life of the transmissions under such demanding conditions. Monolec Power Fluid is highly versatile and designed to meet the unusual operating needs of most combination gear-hydraulic systems and hydraulic transmissions. Tougher film strength, better oiliness and lubricity, higher flash and fire points and greater water resistance lead to considerable reduced wear. After 9,000 original miles on the Chevy 2500 HD, Doug Martin replaced the factory-filled  ransmission fluid with Monolec Power Fluid and changed the filter. A subsequent fluid-and-filter change was performed at the 30,000-mile mark. The next fluid-and-filter change was performed at the 105,000-mile mark, which was 75,000 miles and 10 years after the previous change. With the Ford F250, Doug replaced the factory-filled transmission fluid with Monolec Power Fluid after 25,000 original miles. A subsequent fluid-and-filter change was performed at the 90,000-mile  mark. The last fluid-and-filter change was performed at the 219,000-mile mark, which was 129,000 miles after the previous change. Results The 10-year period between transmission fluid changes has included 10 seasons of grueling Northeast snowplowing for the Chevy 2500 HD. “When the pan was dropped, Monolec 7500 looked great,” Doug said. “No sludge or varnish present and virtually no metal shavings were found on the magnet. The transmission did not look a mile over 5,000.” Asked about the average lifespan of a 4L80-E transmission in a snowplowing application, Doug said that with the OEM 30,000-mile PM schedule and OEM-recommended fluid, he would have had to rebuild the  transmission five years ago During the 10-year period between transmission fluid changes in the Ford F250, the vehicle had been relied upon for much heavy duty usage. “The pan looked immaculate,” Doug said. “Monolec 7500 looked  brand new, and there were virtually no metal shavings on the magnet.” Doug said that using the LE’s power fluid has prevented many headaches and saved the company many transmission rebuilds. He is a staunch believer in LE lubricants and often seizes the opportunity to tell others about his successes with Monolec Power Fluid and the other LE lubricants he uses.
