9 YEARS WITH NO UNSCHEULDED DOWNTIME

CUSTOMER PROFILE: This nationally known dairy products processor, located in Northeast Texas, processes raw milk into powdered milk and butter for the food service market. They package butter in all sizes from individual packages for restaurants to 50 pound boxes for other processors to repackage. While most of the powdered milk is sold to the International market place, some will stay state side for the candy and food industry.

APPLICATION: One of this location’s most critical pieces of equipment are the APV Gaulin high pressure pumps. These pumps take the raw milk from the receiving area to the processing area where the milk is routed to the butter separators, churns, homogenizers or the dryers.

AREA OF INTEREST: This location is one of the largest milk processors in the US. They pull milk and cream from a five state area and sometimes further. Often they have to pull water and condensing down milk for shipment to areas where milk is in short supply along with their normal processing. Downtime must be avoided.

LE SOLUTION: LE Lubrication Consultant, Walter Morman recommended LE 6406 MONOLEC® R & O Compressor / Turbine Oil. LE 6406 is a long life, versatile, rust and oxidation inhibited, antiwear premium grade industrial oil for use in all types of air compressors and oil circulating systems.

CUSTOMER COST SAVINGS: Since converting this machinery to LE’s 6406, the APV Gaulin high pressure pumps have operated nine years with out any unscheduled downtime. The pistons in these machines use water to lubricate and cool the rod seals and when they wear down, oil will be lost into the drain for the water. Water sometimes will leak into the gear set causing premature oil change. During the yearly inspections of this gear set there has been no need to replace the gear and the bearings are replaced on a two year interval as a preventive measure. The normal service interval while using LE’s 6406 is 12 months, much greater than the facilities previous lubricant.
