Transformer Oil (6760) City of Burlington South WWTP – Burlington, N.C. EMU Raw Water Sewage Pumps Customer Profile The City of Burlington South WWTP is one of two wastewater plants servicing Burlington. It treats approximately 6.5 MGD, and is permitted to treat 12 MGD. pplication EMU raw water sewage pumps Challenge  While using the specified commercial grade transformer oil in the EMU pumps, high operating temperatures of 200-210°F (93-99°C) were normal. Rick Asher, chief operator, was looking for ways to lower the operating temperatures. LE Solution Jeff Boyles, LE lubrication consultant, recommended using LE Transformer Oil (6760). LE Transformer Oil has excellent heat transfer properties for cooler operation, longer life and is designed for use as an insulating and cooling medium for electrical apparatus. It is designed to be used in pumps with oil-filled electric motors requiring a dielectric oil such as the EMU pumps. Results After installing LE’s 6760 Transformer Oil, Rick noticed the operating  emperatures dropped from their usual 200-210°F down to 170-180°F (77-82°C), a drop of 20-30 degrees F. The temperatures have continued to stay in this range. The lower operating temperature will help to give the oil and equipment longer life. Other LE Products Used Almaplex® Industrial Lubricant (1275) Monolec® R & O Compressor / Turbine Oil (6404) Des-Case® desiccant breathers • Reduced operating temperature 20-30 degrees, which will lead to longer life for oil and equipment
